As we just finished celebrating America’s Freedom Day I wanted to take a moment to talk about True Freedom. Freedom that is found from and in

Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Galatians 5:1 states “It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.” NASB.

How though when we have been set free do we put ourselves back into a yoke of bondage? If you continue reading through Pauls letter to the churches in Galatia we come across some very well written words right before the fruit of the Spirit. I like to call them the fruit of the flesh.

“Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” Galatians 5:19-21 NASB

Which one has you enslaved and not living in total freedom? In complete transparency there are a few on that list that I myself am facing today. But what is the next step?

The alter! When you lay down that yoke that is holding you back leave it at the alter and give it to Christ. The key is total surrender and knowing that each time those thoughts come we can go to Christ in prayer and ask for His hand to help us through the situation we are facing.
