“Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over [with no space left for more]. For with the standard of measurement you use [when you do good to others], it will be measured to you in return.” -Luke 6:38 (AMP)
When Pastor MAC talks about giving being a part of our spiritual DNA, that is something that I feel in the depths of my soul. I love giving, it brings me great joy! I love making someone’s day. It usually costs me only a few minutes, a few words, and/or sometimes a small amount of monetary resources. As I was driving, I thought about how easy it is just give a drive-thru attendant a compliment or smile, share a joke with a cashier, pay for someone’s order behind you, or give a word of encouragement to the person pumping gas on the other side of the pump. It can be as easy as picking up something that someone dropped in the store while shopping. When we do these things, we are pouring into other’s lives and blessing them. If you ever find yourself in a place where someone is giving you a blessing, don’t turn it away with your pride or attitude! Their desire to do something that enhances your life could be bringing them a greater joy than you will ever realize. Accepting their blessing for you is actually blessing them in return. I know, I know some of you might be thinking, “Well no one ever blesses me like that.” Let me ask you when was the last time you blessed someone else? The blessing of joy is contagious, so I ask how will you spread the blessing of joy today?
