One of the most difficult parts of transitioning from childhood to adulthood is facing what feels like a crushing burden of responsibility. Suddenly, you have bills to pay or you lose your shelter, transportation, utility services, or even your job. You have resources to continually procure in order to eat healthy, sleep well, dress appropriately, develop your career, and maintain your sanity. Bad news, none of this goes away, EVER. In fact, parents and caregivers take on the added responsibility of covering all those concerns and many more for those God places in their care.

Time for some GOOD news, right? God never intended for you to face this alone. Jesus warned against stressing ourselves out when we know God provides (Matthew 6:25-34). Paul explained in Philippians 4 that the answer is being content in God’s provision and taking our cares to Him in thanksgiving. I know it seems overwhelming right now. Trust me, it stays overwhelming and only seems to get crazier. In fact, God’s plan for your life is to give you a lot more responsibility than you ever thought you could handle. God’s plan for your life is for you to grow closer to Him and rely on Him more and more every day. Your ability to grow forward in life will never be found in your capacity for greatness; it is always found in your capacity for gratitude!
